Fever / Flu

1. A colleague at work consults you, because he is feeling feverish, but must necessarily continue to work.

What do you do first?

Ask for further complaints (such as a running nose, a cough, a sore throat, other pain, trouble breathing etc.) and whether he has already taken any medication.

You send him home.

Immediately report it to the emergency department of the next hospital.

2. He tells you that he has had a cold for 3 days, cough, sore throat – the full program. It just does not get any better and now he feels somewhat feverish lately.

What should you inquire with fever before you »discharge” someone like this work colleague from the medical room?

Nothing. The case is clear. He just has the flu, which is not bad. He can continue to work from me.

I should definitely ask if he was recently abroad, more specifically in a tropical area.

3. He denies your questions about staying abroad, staying in nature, or whether someone around him is also sick. You therefore assume a »normal” flu.

What do you do now?

You send him home. He should recover and only return to work when he is completely healthy.

You recommend to introduce him to his family doctor.

You do nothing and dismiss him to work. You do not have any medication.
